How to prepare a temporary worker before they attend site
Under the Conduct Regulations, an agency is obliged to carry out several checks being supplying a temporary worker to their clients which are:
- To obtain sufficient information from you about the position you are seeking to fill with the temporary worker including any risks to health or safety known to you, and what steps you are taking to prevent or control such risks; and
- In relation to health and safety at work, we will make enquiries which are reasonably practicable, to ensure that it would not be detrimental to the interests of the temporary worker or you (the client) for the temporary worker to work for the client in the position you are seeking to fill.
The health and safety of a temporary worker is a joint responsibility between us and you, our client, so it is your responsibility as the client in the first instance to provide us with the relevant health and safety information.
Any information sought from our client will be shared with the temporary worker who will be supplied to do the work.
The information should particularly cover COVID-19 to ascertain the measures that you the client has put in place to mitigate risks, protect the temporary worker, your own staff and visitors throughout the assignment.
The government have advised that any COVID-19 safety measures should be given to employees before they return to their work premises.
So, we will require a copy of any safety instructions you have which we will then given to the temporary worker so that they understand the COVID-19 safety procedures before they start work.
Risk assessments for the purposes of ensuring the health and safety of our temporary workers should be carried out by you our client, since you are responsible for your own site. The results of the risk assessment should be shared with us, and then in turn will be shared with our temporary workers before the start of the assignment.
